Europe 2018

Embarking on a European adventure with my boyfriend, now my husband, alongside his parents was an unforgettable experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. This trip was not just about exploring new destinations but also about forging deeper connections and creating cherished memories together.

Our journey began with excitement and anticipation as we set foot in Europe, ready to immerse ourselves in its rich history and stunning landscapes. Our ultimate destination was St. Anton, Austria, a picturesque Alpine village renowned for its world-class skiing. As passionate skiers, my boyfriend’s family eagerly anticipated hitting the slopes, and I was thrilled to join them in their favorite winter sport.

But our itinerary was not solely focused on skiing; we embraced the opportunity to explore other captivating destinations along the way. From the romantic canals of Venice to the iconic landmarks of Paris, each stop added a new layer of richness to our European adventure.

However, amidst the breathtaking landscapes and cultural discoveries, a momentous event unfolded that forever changed the course of our journey. It was in the midst of our travels that my best friend, my partner in life’s adventures, chose to propose to me, making this trip even more unforgettable and meaningful.

As we traversed through Europe, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of the world around us and the love that bound us together. Whether we were carving through powdery slopes in St. Anton or strolling hand in hand along the cobblestone streets of Rome, every moment was infused with joy, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

Our European escapade was not just a vacation; it was a celebration of love, friendship, and the boundless possibilities that life has to offer. It reminded me that the greatest adventures are not always found in far-off lands but in the company of those we hold dear and the moments we share together.

As we bid farewell to Europe and returned home with hearts full of memories, I knew that this journey would forever be etched in my soul as a testament to the transformative power of love and the beauty of exploration.

Amsterdam

We arrived in Amsterdam on a brisk Monday afternoon. My mother-in-law graciously treated us to dinner at a prestigious restaurant nestled within a historic building. There, we savored a delectable 6-course menu, beginning with…

We celebrated the New Year in Amsterdam, indulging in a culinary adventure. Memorable highlights included heavenly Nutella Pancakes, delightful Poffertjies, savory Cheese tastings, exploring Wynand FokInk, relishing Pom Frites, and dining at Jackets. Jackets, in particular, stood out for their remarkable potatoes, paired with their distinctive craft beer crafted from potatoes.

Switzerland

Our journey then led us to Zurich, Switzerland, a charming country famous for its breathtaking mountains, delectable chocolate, savory cheese, and precise timepieces. While Swiss cuisine typically conjures images of Cheese Fondue, Raclette, and Swiss Chocolate, our culinary highlight came from savoring Holy Cow Burgers. Moreover, I delighted in a heavenly custard tart from a quaint bakery nestled in the picturesque town of Lucerne. With its well-preserved medieval charm and breathtaking backdrop of snow-capped mountains and Lake Lucerne, Lucerne left an indelible mark on us.

Saint Anton am Arlberg, Austria

Located in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps, St. Anton am Arlberg stands as the entrance to the famed Arlberg ski area and boasts the esteemed title of the “birthplace of alpine skiing” due to its significant contribution to the sport’s origins. Beyond its skiing legacy, this quaint village is renowned for its lively après-ski scene.

However, our most cherished recollection of this idyllic Austrian hamlet? It’s the very place where we exchanged our engagement vows.
